In Los Angeles, Ken studied drums with Kay Carlson. She taught playing varieties of genres and reading different types of drum music. This has allowed Ken to teach a variety of instruments.
Ken also studied with an internationally known drum guru: Richard Wilson, who was also a friend of Buddy Rich's. He and Buddy extolled the virtues of the Moellre technique. Ken’s performance history includes a wide variety of venues - from packed pro sports arenas, open festivals, to packed night clubs. Ken has also been drum instructor for most of his adult life, passing on the wisdom he has been privileged to receive. Professionally, Ken has performed with: Scottsdale Music Arts Orchestra, Fourth Wall, The Klezmen (folky rock), and is currently performing with The Buzzard Blues Band.
As a percussion Instructor, his focus has been on the development and implementation of curriculum for various age groups and skill levels to include incorporating audio, visual and tactile awareness, with the Moeller technique. While developing his drumming skills in Los Angeles, Ken also studied music theory and acting. Ken’s career experience also includes regular background acting, extra work, and modeling. Since arriving in Arizona, Ken has performed regularly as the drummer for a worship band, local drumming circles, and once in a great while, an acting or modeling job has come up.
